I love it when people are bold enough to share their journey through life’s challenges. That is one of the reasons why I wanted to start a podcast — to showcase how everyone’s health and healing journey is different and how one size does not fit all. Another reason is because it is so important to know that you are not alone.
I recently came across this website about a young woman with BRCA1 gene that predisposes a person to a certain kind of breast cancer, which can be mitigated preemptively by undergoing a prophylactic bilateral mastectomy. Removal of both breasts.
Of course with removal of both breasts, reconstruction is also a journey in and of itself. Traci (The Tracinator) claims that she isn’t a good writer, but I disagree. She writes as though she is talking with a good friend and I think that is the most relatable and captivating way to share your story with words. She called her blog “Breasts of Burden” and slips jokes in whenever she can to lighten the mood. Trace/Traci is also a nurse, so her blog is as informative as it is welcoming.
If you have a health and healing journey, I would love to hear about it!
